“Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart… “
Meet the Spitler family… Beautiful right? When I first spoke with Mary about a month ago, she told me a few things. She started with she loved my photos and that she was looking for a photographer who would be able to do several shoots for her. A family session, birthday party, milestone sessions etc. The next thing she told me was that they had just moved from North Carolina, which if you’ve ever spoken to Mary, you can immediately hear her southern accent. This immediately settled in as I am from the south as well. So, I ask her how she was liking it here and we discussed it for a bit. The third thing Mary told me, and I always seem to remember moments like this crystal clear, was that her husband, Jake, was going to be deployed to Afghanistan in just a couple of months… Yes, that’s right being deployed… I immediately felt this twinge of hurt for her, him and their children, but then immediately felt so honored that they would ask me to capture such special moments. Mary then continued on with our conversation, so calmly. I told her I was just blown away about how together she was and how strong she is, and that I really couldn’t imagine. Mary, Jake and their two children are truly so graceful, calm, peaceful and happy. They radiate happiness. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of such a special time, I am so happy that I will get to capture moments with your family throughout the year and that you asked me to help turn these moments into forever. And Jake, thank you for serving our country. Thank you for fearlessly leaving your family to help ours.
